We had a meeting today with Ryan's caseworker. She comes to our home at least 2 or 3 times a year and we discuss Ryan's needs and what new equipment he might need. Today, we discovered that our insurance just might pay for a new all terrain wheelchair! We are thrilled! This means that all of the activities that Ryan is normally left out of; he will now be able to participate in with us! When he was younger and much smaller, it wasn't so hard to take him to these places as we could just put him in a stroller or even carry him! But, now that he's 14 and nearly 80 pounds; carrying him is not an option; nor are strollers! This new chair means that Ryan will again get to go out on the beach and even into the water! He will be able to enjoy hikes with our family or even go out in the snow. The downside is that Ryan cannot drive this chair. We will have to push him and he won't like that. But, I think experiencing life in a new way will be worth it to him!
Today, while we were meeting with the caseworker, Joshua got hungry. And since Steve and I were busy talking to Suzi. Jorie took the initiative to make Joshua breakfast. She even cut his breakfast up and got him a fork. It was the cutest thing and I was just so proud of her for being so grown up! She is such a good sister to her brothers and such a HUGE help to me!
